Piz da Peres (2,507 m) rises right above Passo Furcia – practically on my doorstep in Enneberg. Its via ferrata is one of the sportiest in the area: steep, varied, with a superb view across to the Kronplatz and into the Dolomites.
Approach
The starting point is the car park by the reservoir at Passo Furcia (1,758 m), reached from St. Vigil or Olang – in summer also by bus. We follow footpath no. 12 towards Piz da Peres until, at about 2,250 m, a yellow rock wall marks the start.
Three sections
- Tor Blancia – steep and strenuous straight away (up to C)
- Trei Donz – the hardest part, with moves up to C/D
- Picio Piz da Peres – easier (A/B), to enjoy all the way to the summit
Two escape routes let you shorten the tour if needed – a big plus when the weather or your energy doesn’t play along. With the approach and descent you are out for about 4–5 hours and climb around 800 metres.
Who is it for?
- Experienced via ferrata climbers who have already done routes graded C
- Good arm strength and stamina matter – the steep sections are tiring
- A head for heights and sure-footedness are essential
For children and beginners I recommend easier via ferratas – the Dolomites have many beautiful ones. I’m happy to advise which route suits you.
Gear
Helmet, harness and a certified via ferrata set are mandatory. I also recommend via ferrata gloves, sturdy shoes with a grippy sole, a rain jacket and enough to drink. If you’re missing anything, I’ll organise it.
With a guide
With me on the rope you have extra protection on the steep sections, we move at the right pace and I show you the technique that saves strength. That way even a sporty route like Piz da Peres becomes a pleasure.
